Hair Extension FAQ’s

Most questions are usually about our Great Lengths extensions and we have tried to cover them for you here.

R.D.F has over 40 Natural Colours to choose from!

Do I need a consultation for hair extensions?
Yes! We need to see your hair to gauge it’s density, colour, thickness and discuss the style you’re trying to achieve. We can then provide you with a quote. Consultations are free of charge and take around 15mins.

Due to the time required for the job, we ask for a deposit before the appointment. This deposit is non-refundable. Balance to be paid on day of application.

How long will they last for?

We recommend they will last for 3 months, however many have had them for anywhere up to 6 months or more depending on the style and condition. You must follow observe our guidelines to maintain integrity.

Is there any guarantee?R.D.F has 14 crazy/alternate colour strands to choose.
Yes! After your extensions are installed we provide a free Maintenance Check programme to ensure longevity. (Maintenance Check programme covers 4 free visits over a 2 month period post installation.)

We do not guarantee any work/Maintenance Checks performed by other salons and removal is also an additional charge.

Note: Our simple guidelines must be observed.

What does a Maintenance Check involve?
Checks are to ensure the integrity of the bond and check our guidelines are adhered to. Maintenance Checks usually take no longer than an hour.

As your hair grows out, a proportion of hair is naturally lost. This hair remains attached to the bond – any hairs sticking out at the root area is trimmed.

With general wear and tear, the bonds shrink. We reheat the bonds and stretch them back out again.

Guidelines: Looking after your extensions

General
• 10 days post application you must return for your first Maintenance Check.
• After your initial Maintenance Check, subsequent checks can be performed at 2-6 week intervals.
• The free Maintenance Check programme covers 4x 1 hour visits as per above.
• You must use home hair care as recommended by our qualified staff.
• Activities that result in a constant damp environment (i.e. steam baths & saunas) may lessen the longevity. These activities should be kept to a minimum.

Shampooing, Conditioning & Drying
• Do not shampoo for 48hrs after application and/or Maintenance Check.
• Condition and detangle only from mid-strand to end, avoiding the scalp area.
• Do not towel-dry with a rubbing motion. Wrap your hair in a towel to remove moisture.
• ALWAYS dry the base area of the hair (roots and bonds) to avoid bond breakdown.
• Do not use products that may contain sulphur (i.e. dandruff shampoo). Use only products recommended.

Great Length Hair Extension BrushBrushing & Combing
• Brush starting at the nape and working upwards.
• Use a wide-toothed comb to remove any tangles in hair ends.
• Do not use a comb in the area between your scalp and the Great Lengths bonds.

Prior to Bedtime
• We recommend you gently tie your hair back with a scrunchie hairtie or loosely plait to prevent tangling whilst sleeping.

Swimming
• Sea water and pool chemicals can cause bond breakage and decrease the longevity of Great Lengths extensions. To minimise these effects, prior to swimming wet the hair completely in the shower. After swimming always rinse the hair and dry the roots and bonds as soon as possible.
